Latest LIVE updates
It’s a big day for Zelda fans. Today (Nov. 5) sees the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, and retailers could mark the occasion with a restock of the limited-edition Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console and matching Zelda-themed Pro controller. And I’m tracking stock now.
Anything Zelda-related will sell out fast, and since this console was revealed and pre-orders went live in early September, it’s been very tough to find in stock. But Nintendo has promised more is on the way, and Ocarina of Time launch day seems like the perfect time for more restock.
As of now, there is no Zelda Switch 2 restock available. Target, Walmart and Best Buy are all reported to have in-store drops, so check your nearest locations. Meanwhile, Target previously confirmed it will restock the Zelda Switch 2 online on Friday (Nov. 6). Here’s hoping more follow suit.
I’ve been covering pre-order events and restocks at Tom’s Guide for more than five years and have helped thousands of gamers secure limited edition items during that time. Today I’m using all my experience to bring you the latest Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 stock updates.

I’m a Senior Entertainment Editor at Tom’s Guide and a more recent convert to The Legend of Zelda series. Breath of the Wild on Switch 1 was my first Zelda experience, and I can’t wait to finally play Ocarina of Time.

Target reminder
Once more, Target had in-store pickup available today, but online orders for the Switch 2 console start tomorrow (Nov. 6).
Another run through the retailers
Lets take another run through the retailers. As we wind down toward the end of the work day, I don’t expect any updates.
- Amazon: Currently unavailable
- Best Buy: Sold out
- GameStop: Sold out
- Nintendo Store: Sold out
- Walmart: Redirected to Ocarina of Time
Amazon Ocarina pre-orders delayed
I’ve seen a few reports indicating that Amazon is suddenly delaying Ocarina of Time pre-orders by nearly a week.
To put it mildly, people are not happy.
Did you pre-order through Amazon? Are you seeing delays on delivery? Let me know in the comments or send me an email.
Zelda console has disappeared from Walmart
Our link to the Zelda console is broken and no longer goes to a page for the special edition Switch 2.
I tried searching for the console on the Walmart and nothing shows up. I tried links on other sites which now redirect to the Ocarina of Time remake.
I’ll keep an eye on things but for now Walmart has vanished the 40th anniversary console and pro controller from its website.
Forget consoles, what about controllers?
The console have been sold out for a minute with no real restock coming in.
I decided to check out the Pro controllers just in case any of those were available instead.
Unfortunately, I’m not seeing it available anywhere. But I’ll keep looking in case it pops up.
Two editions of Ocarina of Time box art
Did you know there are two cover variants of the Ocarina of Time physical edition?
There’s a textured foil version and a normal. You’ll know which you have if the spine lettering is gold (foil) or white (normal).
As of this posting here is what different retailers are offering.

Standard edition:
A quick UK check
The main UK retailers have been out of stock for most of the day, but I checked again just in case anyone is trying to get one before dinner.
Of the retailers I checked, Argos might have some but you’ll need to put in your postal code to check. I tried several London codes and Bradford just to see but all those locations were out of stock.
Reminder: Target stock drops tomorrow (Nov. 6)
We mentioned it above but as a reminder, if Target is your preferred or closest retailer, the company does not have stock today.
However, Target previously confirmed that it will open up sales on Friday (November 6).
That being said, I found claims on Reddit that some stores were selling the consoles today. It seems like those sold out quickly though.
Official Ocarina – sold out
Nintendo is selling an official playable Ocarina from the Ocarina of Time remake for $34.99. From my understanding it actually works.
Unfortunately, it’s already sold out, but I’ll keep an eye on things in case it pops back up.
Retailer sweep
Stock is not lasting long. I just posted about the official Nintendo Store twenty minutes ago and the Zelda console is already sold out.
With that in mind, lets take a look at all the retailers right now.
- Amazon: Currently unavailable
- Best Buy: Sold out
- GameStop: Sold out
- Nintendo Store: Sold out
- Walmart: Sold out
It should be noted that GameStop is in-store only. I checked in my area and was told that no store within 100 miles had stock. You might get luckier.
Also, Walmart features third-party sellers so you might see some availability but they’re also gouging the price all the way up to $700. I recommend you avoid those.
Zelda Switch 2 on the official Nintendo Store
If you prefer to get your gear directly from the source, it appears that the 40th Anniversary Switch 2 is available on the official Nintendo Store.
Check out the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition for $519.99 on the Nintendo store.
Walmart is now sold out of the Pro controller!
Hopefully you managed to secure a Zelda Pro controller if that was on your wishlist during the Walmart restock. On my end the retailer is now once again showing the dreaded “sold out” message. I’m already watching for more restocks!
Last week, Target confirmed it would restock the Zelda Switch 2 console on Friday, November 6 via an update on its listing page, before removing said update, leading to fears the restock had been delayed. Good news! The message has returned, Target will restock tomorrow (Nov. 6), and on the same day it will also restock the console in-store. So you can try both at your nearest Target and online.
- Target: restock on November 6
Zelda Switch 2 Pro Controller IN STOCK at Walmart!
It’s not the console, but you can pick up the Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller at Walmart. The page already has a “low stock” warning though, so don’t expect it to stick around long. If you want this nifty Switch 2 accessory, go grab it now.
- Zelda Switch 2 Pro controller: $99 @ Walmart
A surprising Ocarina of Time deal for UK gamers!
If you’re in the U.K. and haven’t picked up your copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time yet, you can currently grab it for £54 on Amazon. That’s a £5 saving. Not a huge discount, but any form of deal on a new release is pretty rare!
Sadly, on Amazon US, the game is listed at its standard $69 MSRP. In fact, it appears Ocarina is so popular that Amazon is having stock issues, with new orders not expected to arrive until November 12-13. So you might want to get it digitally.
- Zelda: Ocarina of Time: was £59 now £54 @ Amazon
What’s your favorite Zelda game?
Still nothing new to report on the restock front, so to pass the time, let me know your favorite The Legend of Zelda game in the above poll! I’d personally pick Breath of the Wild, but there are several classic Zelda games I still need to play.
Your best chance of getting a Zelda Switch 2 (probably) isn’t online!
With the U.S. starting to wake up, it’s worth noting that the best chance of securing a Zelda Switch 2 today appears to be in-store rather than online. We know that Target, Best Buy, Walmart and GameStop have had in-store restock, though social media suggests the majority of inventory was snapped up during various midnight launch events. However, if you live local to a retailer, and don’t mind taking the chance, you’ll want to head over in person and try your luck!
You could be playing Ocarina of Time now!
It’s Ocarina of Time launch day. The game is in the wild, and players are taking their first steps into this visually-stunning remake. If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, what are you waiting for? I’ll be diving into my own just arrived copy soon, but fear not, I’m still here for several more hours tracking Switch 2 restock!
Nothing to report at present!
Not much of an update here, but the currently situation is there’s nothing to report. I’ve just done my latest retailer swept and I don’t see stock in either the U.S. or U.K., the Zelda Switch 2 remains sold out pretty much everywhere (unless you’re willing to pay a huge markup to a scalper). I’ll keep checking, of course, and let’s hope that as the U.S. starts to wake up we see more activity.
Is Ocarina of Time remake worth the hype?
While we’re waiting for (hopefully) more Zelda Switch 2 restocks, why not check out our Ocarina of Time review? Our reviewer was super impressed with the game, saying, “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a joy to revisit from start to finish thanks to its gorgeous 4K visuals, full orchestral score, and slick modern controls,” and awarding it an “Editor’s Choice.” So I guess it was worth the wait!
Target confirms an online restock…or did it?
At present, the only confirmation of an online Zelda Switch 2 restock comes from Target. Last week the retailer updated its listing page confirming more stock in-store today (Nov. 5) and online to follow tomorrow (Nov. 6). But, here’s the wrinkle, this messaging, which you can see in my screenshot above, has since been removed. Does this mean that Target won’t have online restock on Friday. We’ll have to wait to find out. But for now, I still think Target is the retailer to watch.

In-store midnight launch events offered restock!
In a welcome throwback, loads of retailers, including Best Buy, Walmart and GameStop (as well as Argo in the U.K.) held midnight launch events for Zelda: Ocarina of Time last night. Looking at my social feeds it seemed many locations also had stock of the Zelda Switch 2 console at these events. This could mean that retailers are fresh out of stock, but I’m hoping these in-store drops will be followed by fresh chances to secure a console (and a Pro controller) online later today.
Welcome!
Good morning! It’s finally here, today The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches on Switch 2, and while that’s very exciting. Many Nintendo fans are hoping the day will also bring restock of the limited-edition Zelda Switch 2 console, and I’m here to keep a close eye on retailers just in case drop stocks.
